Any time of year is good for sport, you just have to find the most suitable one: tennis, running, going to the gym… for every season of the year.
When exercising, it is important to bear in mind that sport and nutrition go hand in hand. But it is just as important to pay attention to what we eat as to when we eat it. In other words, we need to feed ourselves correctly before and after exercise. Only this way will we achieve maximum physical performance and ensure good muscle recovery.
Therefore, below we explain which foods you should consume at each moment.
Before exercising
This is the moment when we have to provide our body with the energy it needs, in the form of glucose. That is why pasta becomes the athlete’s ally, as it is a food rich in nutrients, with a high level of carbohydrates and low in fats, which will allow us to perform at our maximum when the effort demands it.

And if we also choose the wholegrain option, we will get this energy provided over a longer period, avoiding the dreaded “sugar crashes”.
Cereals and fruits are other easy-to-digest foods that constitute a good source of energy in the moments before exercise.
After exercising
Just as before running, we will need to replenish our energy stores with carbohydrates, since they are depleted after an intense run or workout. In this case, the “normal” version of pasta will be the better option, as we will optimise the recovery process. In addition to energy recovery, it will also help us to regenerate muscle tissues, thanks to its protein content.
The versatility of pasta means the possibilities of combining it with other foods are endless, although the best options are those low in fat and high in protein, such as tuna, mussels or squid.

If we follow these recommendations, we will achieve a good and quick recovery, as we will enjoy a menu with high levels of carbohydrates and protein, and low in fat. And so, we will arrive recovered for our next training session.
