At Pastas Romero, we are proud to have collaborated once again with Universidad San Jorge as sponsors of another edition of the competition “Designing High-Rise Futures: build the skyscraper of your dreams,” organized by the School of Architecture and Technology (EARTE).
The final of this second edition took place on May 17, in a day full of creativity, effort and excitement.
This original competition, held for 9 years, celebrated its second edition this year in a new skyscraper-focused format, once again aiming to promote hands-on learning, teamwork and structural thinking among secondary and high school students from various schools in Aragón.
Participating schools and institutes
- IES Cinco Villas

Competition development
This competition challenges secondary school students to design and build a skyscraper—but not just any: it must be at least one meter tall and made only with “pasta” and glue.
Participants receive materials in special kits provided by Pastas Romero, including different types of pasta such as spaghetti, lasagna sheets, ridged macaroni and penne No. 5.
First, each team competes within their own school, and the best projects advance to the grand final held at Universidad San Jorge. There, teams rebuild their structures and a jury evaluates their design, stability and strength. It’s not enough for the skyscraper to look good—it must withstand real compression and wind tests, just like a real building.
For weeks, students work in teams, facing challenges that test their creativity, ingenuity and problem-solving skills. In this edition, IES Cinco Villas from Ejea de los Caballeros won first prize for their teamwork, originality and talent. As they proudly shared: “They have demonstrated talent, teamwork and creativity by building the skyscraper of their dreams… and making it a reality!”
Second place went to Agustinos Romareda School.

Pasta, learning and a bright future
For us at Pastas Romero, it is a privilege to continue supporting initiatives like this, where education meets creativity, sustainability and innovation.
Thanks to Universidad San Jorge and all participating schools for continuing to inspire the next generation of architects, designers and engineers.
We remain committed to education connected to the future… and made with lots of pasta!
