Mar Vaquero’s visit to our factory

Last Tuesday 23 January, we had the honour of welcoming to our facilities the Second Vice President of the Government of Aragón and Minister of Economy, Employment and Industry, Mrs Mar Vaquero. A visit to our factory, located in Daroca (Zaragoza), which was also attended by various institutional representatives of the region such as Michel García Cortés, Mayor of Daroca; Jesús Sanz Herrera, Town Councillor and Regional Tourism Councillor; and Fco. Javier Lafuente Jiménez – President of the Daroca Region.

çThe main objective of the visit was for our General Director, Francisco Romero, and the Commercial and Logistics Director, Javier Romero, to be the hosts of this distinguished activity, with the purpose of presenting the company’s current work and future plans. We were able to show them our complete manufacturing process, from when we receive the semolina until the product leaves packaged towards multiple points in Spain and abroad. A tour of both the old factory and the new factory (Romero II) where the most recent new production lines have been installed.

Pastas Romero, a benchmark for innovation in Aragón

From its beginnings, our company has been a benchmark for innovation thanks to its continuous investment in cutting-edge technology and manufacturing systems. This focus has positioned us as leaders in the agrifood sector, exporting to more than 30 countries and reaching a current production of 70 million kilograms of pasta per month. According to the Vice President’s words, “Pastas Romero is the example that from the territory you can undertake, succeed and be a benchmark”.

Currently, we have 115 employees and turnover that exceeded 83 million euros at the end of 2023. One of the reasons why Pastas Romero is embarking on an investment of more than 10 million euros to open a new production line, increasing our production capacity from 70,000 to 90,000 tonnes per year.

This project will involve the creation of between ten and twelve new jobs, thus contributing to the economic development of both our company and the locality of Daroca.

The history of Pastas Romero: nearly 100 years linked to Daroca

Our history dates back to 1926, when the founder of the brand, Manuel Romero Marqués, established what we know today as Pastas Alimenticias Romero Sociedad Anónima. We have always maintained a strong connection with Daroca, trusting that our region can be the epicentre of significant initiatives for employment and the future, fundamental in the fight against depopulation.

For us, the path to the future implies continuing to transform our products into more elaborate foods, diversifying our business channels, employing more people and increasing income and profitability. Always with the ultimate goal of offering our consumers completely natural products of the highest quality.

A visit that also allowed us to discuss details about the development of the area and needs to be able to maintain the industry in delocalised areas such as Daroca, which represent an important point of employment and population.

Many media have echoed the news (Heraldo de Aragón, Periódico de Aragón, Go Aragón, Aragón Digital, Diario del Campo).

Thank you for accompanying us and sharing with us the passion for our work.
