If you are reading this, you must be a pasta lover, but has it ever happened to you that after cooking a pasta dish the result has not been the expected one? Have you considered that perhaps the error lies in the cooking process? Although it seems simple in principle, when cooking pasta we recommend you avoid a series of mistakes that tend to be very common:
Not respecting the cooking time indicated by the manufacturer
The optimal cooking time is indicated on the packaging, so we recommend you follow the manufacturer’s instructions to prevent the pasta from being overcooked. And remember! Cooking time should be measured from the moment the water starts to boil.
Using too little water or an unsuitable pot
When cooking pasta we should use approximately 1 litre of water per 100 grams of pasta, so the pot must be large to prevent the pasta from sticking. Remember to add the pasta when the water comes to a rolling boil!
Adding salt before the water boils
Salt is an important element when cooking pasta. The mistake lies in adding salt to the water before it boils, since this way it loses all its flavour. For an optimal result, add it just before adding the pasta.
Adding oil so that the pasta doesn’t stick
Salt not only adds flavour, but also prevents the pasta from sticking, so forget about adding oil to the cooking water. Another trick to prevent the pasta from sticking simply consists of stirring the pasta from time to time during cooking.
Rinsing the pasta in cold water after cooking
This is one of the most common mistakes when cooking pasta. Remember: never run cooked pasta under cold water because it loses texture. The pasta becomes more slippery and the sauce sticks to it less well, so as you can see — after cooking the pasta and draining it, add it directly to the sauce so that it absorbs it well.
