About us

100 years caring for what matters

When a family business reaches 100 years while maintaining its purpose of producing the finest durum wheat pasta in its homeland, Aragón, it proves that it has successfully balanced tradition and modernity. To accomplish this, we have learned to care of what truly matters: our raw materials, our people and, above all, our environment.

Today, Pastas Romero is one of the leading companies in the pasta manufacturing sector in Spain and looks to the future with a strong commitment to innovation and sustainability.

An example of this is the R&D project “Pasta for Good Health”, aimed at developing a healthier and more sustainable range of pasta products, carried out in collaboration with the University of Zaragoza and supported by the Centre for the Development of Industrial Technology (CDTI).

We care for the environment

From the very beginning, Pastas Romero has stood out for its commitment to its local agriculture and community. In the Daroca region, 100% durum wheat semolina is cultivated, a requirement to classify a product as “Superior Quality” under Spanish technical and health regulations. In addition to our raw materials, all ingredients used in our specialty products (pasteurized egg, spinach and tomato) are entirely natural and of the highest quality. No additives, colorants or artificial agents are used.

Pastas Alimenticias Romero was the first company in the sector in Spain to obtain ISO 9001:2000 quality certification and ISO 14001:2015 environmental certification. We currently hold IFS (International Food Standard) certification at advanced level, as well as a certificate of organic production and labeling of organic products issued by the Aragonese Committee for Organic Agriculture and ISO 14001:2015 certification.

Our carbon footprint for 2025 is 6,747.71 t CO₂e. It should be noted that we have reduced our carbon footprint ratio by 4.8% compared with 2024. With the aim of reducing our environmental impact and improving the energy efficiency of our facilities, we are implementing a plan to reduce the carbon footprint of our organization by 3% by 2025, over a five-year period, defining several lines of action. Among the measures planned are the assessment and implementation of a power factor correction system to optimize energy consumption, as well as the progressive replacement of conventional lighting with LED technology. In addition, preventive maintenance of the solar panels will continue in order to ensure their optimal operation and performance. Awareness-raising activities aimed at employees on good environmental practices will also be promoted. As part of the equipment improvement plan, the replacement of the C2000 dryer with a more energy-efficient system is being considered. Furthermore, the purchase of Green Energy with Guarantees of Origin (GoO) certified by CNMC will be evaluated. These initiatives reinforce our commitment to reducing our environmental footprint and promoting the responsible use of energy resources.
